Walk with a Doc in Topeka
June 18, 2022 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am
This doctor-led group is a fun and safe place to hear briefly about an important health topic and enjoy a walk outside with a physician each month.
This Saturday, join Dr. Jared Elliott for an engaging discussion on mental health, during Mental Health Month, while walking around Washburn University. The Stormont Vail Health Paw Squad therapy dogs will also be there! Participants should meet at the east side of Lee Arena.
The walk is open to the community. Participation is free and pre-registration is not required.
According to the American Heart Association, walking as little as 30 minutes a day can provide the following benefits:
Improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels
Help maintain a healthy body weight and lower the risk of obesity
Enhance mental well-being
Reduce the risk of osteoporosis
Walk with a Doc (WWAD) is an international non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire communities through movement and conversation. Topeka joins a growing list of communities worldwide that have started local Walk with a Doc programs. Learn more at www.walkwithadoc.org.
