DESCRIPTION:This doctor-led group is a fun and safe place to hear briefly about an important health topic and enjoy a walk outside with a physician each month. \n\n\n\nJoin Dr. Mark Synovec on Saturday\, Sept. 16\, as we learn about the importance of medical research. Participants should meet at the east side of Lee Arena at Washburn University. \n\n\n\nThe walk is open to the community. Participation is free and pre-registration is not required. \n\n\n\nAccording to the American Heart Association\, walking as little as 30 minutes a day can provide the following benefits: \n\n\n\nImprove blood pressure and blood sugar levels \n\n\n\nHelp maintain a healthy body weight and lower the risk of obesity \n\n\n\nEnhance mental well-being \n\n\n\nReduce the risk of osteoporosis Walk with a Doc (WWAD) is an international non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire communities through movement and conversation. DESCRIPTION:  \nThe time in a girls life between the ages of 8-12 is one of physical and emotional changes. This program for girls and their parent will address menstruation and other physical changes of puberty\, the emotional upheaval of adolescence and communication techniques for parent and daughter. \n \nFee: $25 for each parent/child duo; $12.50 for each additional sibling. SUMMARY:Childbirth Preparation (Sept 16 & 17) In-Person
DESCRIPTION:Our childbirth classes are taught by experienced educators and are designed to help you and your support person feel more prepared for your labor and delivery experience. Learn about the stages of labor\, pain management tools\, breathing and relaxation techniques\, how to involve your support person\, and more! Dress comfortably and feel free to bring a pillow to help you feel more comfortable during breathing and relaxation exercises. It is ideal for this class to be completed one month to six weeks prior to your due date. \n\n  \n\n\n\nThis class will be held in the Stormont Vail Health Pozez Education Center. Please enter through the main entrance of Stormont Vail Health. \nNote: Enrollment includes expectant mother and one support person.  This weekend class option will meet two days in a row (September 16th & 17th) from 1 pm to 5 pm each day to cover all content. \n\n\n\n
