DESCRIPTION:This doctor-led group is a fun and safe place to hear briefly about an important health topic and enjoy a walk outside with a physician each month. \n\n\n\nJoin Dr. Hailey Avila on Saturday\, Aug. 19\, as we learn about sports and how to prevent injuries with her and Michael Ramirez\, MS\, ATC\, LAT\, Rehabilitation Services System Director. Participants should meet at the east side of Lee Arena at Washburn University. \n\n\n\nThe walk is open to the community. Participation is free and pre-registration is not required. \n\n\n\nAccording to the American Heart Association\, walking as little as 30 minutes a day can provide the following benefits: \n\n\n\n\nImprove blood pressure and blood sugar levels\n\n\n\nHelp maintain a healthy body weight and lower the risk of obesity\n\n\n\nEnhance mental well-being\n\n\n\nReduce the risk of osteoporosis \n\n\n\n\nWalk with a Doc (WWAD) is an international non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire communities through movement and conversation. Topeka joins a growing list of communities worldwide that have started local Walk with a Doc programs.
